Reception...
Friday, March 10, 2006
The
Gallery announced our first "Fabulous Fakes &
Forgeries" Show and Silent Auction ...on exhibit throughout the
month of March.
Gallery members also
welcomed Nancy Moskovitz as Guest Artist for March
who exhibited her acrylic paintings to
another packed house of visitors at this
monthly reception.
Our Gallery members showed in true artistic spirit to provide
some pristine and serious forgeries of the great master artists. From Dali
to Monet, Picasso to Georgia
O'Keefe, and many others. This work amazed our visitors.
Humor was not lacking in some of the forgeries that were obvious fakes,
such as Mimi Perry's take on "Starry Nights"
by Vincent Van Gogh. It included starry spaceships so was aptly
re-titled "Spacey Nights" by Vincent Van Gone.
Each well done piece was placed on the Silent Auction block.
Beginning with a
reserved minimum price, bidders return to replace and change their
offers using
assigned ticket numbers. Art winners were not known until the first week
in April when they were notified.

About the Gallery's Guest

"I
paint a variety of subjects ranging from portraits to landscapes and
contemporary florals. Working from life or a photograph, I choose from
several different mediums and techniques to best interpret the theme.
Whatever subject has just called out to me
and whatever medium I am using is my favorite, at least for awhile. Each
medium furthers my understanding and skill in
working with the others.
