Reception...
Friday, May 12, 2006
Gallery East welcomed
the "great" art of Jack Thursby as Guest Artist
for the month of May. His life-sized acrylic paintings drew a crowd
of admirers as well as many of his former students who studied under him
at CFCC. Now retired, he spends his time
winning awards at most of the art shows he enters. Needless to say,
the Gallery was honored to have him exhibit with us.

The evening was spent having fun photos
taken with Jack's paintings that were so
realistic they appeared as other guests!
|

Even the children who attended were totally enthralled with this month's
exhibit.

This month's door prize winner received a
beautiful potted lily.

Featured member artist Patti Gillman,
and long time student of Jack Thursby's exhibited her acrylics.

About the Gallery's Guest Artist
Jack Thursby |
|
"Painting can produce a multitude of experiences for the viewer. I
strive to go beyond the world of surface representation
of my subjects
and into emotional realms
as well."
J. Thursby

Guest artist Jack Thursby with one of his
large acrylic paintings titled
"Robert Kinkey - Painter of Dark"
Fine artist Jack Thursby
is a realist at heart. Frustrated with traditional styles, he melds
everyday experiences and fascinating objects to create lifelike
emotional pieces that through immaculate execution draw the viewers into
a world of play.
Some of his pieces illicit a sense of humor while maintaining their place as
awe inspiring, serious works of well executed fine art.
Jack has won numerous fine art awards and continues to captivate the
attention of judges, artists, students and art lovers where ever his
works are exhibited.
